If you can't get the CD to boot (or boot all the way), then it sounds like you're using DBAN 2.2.6 or earlier, in which case yes, the ISOLINUX loader on those releases (especially 2.2.6) was horribly broken for some motherboards - I've talked about that at length on the forum here. In a follow-up post you said "DBAN won't run" - I'm not sure if that means you can't get the CD to boot or if you can get it to boot but get some other error. I would not be surprised if DBAN 2.2.6 or earlier simply showed no disks since you have AHCI enabled. I'm not sure what it is you're trying to use DBAN for - your initial post just says "now I get disk errors", but I'm not aware of situations where DBAN would generate "disk errors", while Windows 7 stating some such I could believe. It all started with problems with a video card, a 450GTS that I sent back and the replacement was worse, artifacts on the HDMI, noise on the DVI's VGA (my monitor doesn't have DVI). I am depressed, I simply cannot afford a 50 dollar drive. Is it possibly my mainboard instead, with some strange issue? I've started breaking my fever so maybe I'll have the strength to go back at it, but my impression is all the drives are hosed, how the hell can that happen? I've lost 3 drives (that's all my drives on that system, and all the data on them because I couldn't afford to buy backups). I get halfway through the install of win8 or win7 and it fails. I realized that I did one thing that might have contributed to the problems: I had reset BIOS to defaults and forgotten that I needed to have AHCI running because that is what it was set at when I installed the OS. What else can go wrong? Sorry, but I'm very sick and it's affecting my state of mind. And then DSLR is getting gateway time outs.
Everything is going wrong for me lately, I've got a half dozen big problems and this is one of them.
